I used multiple stampers to make it go faster, but these are sloths we are talking about, so slooooooow is a waaaaaaaay to goooooooo. I also like to call this step trial and error and error and error. For your etching you want it to be deep enough to hold a nice layer of polish, but not deep enough that it forms a pool of polish. Avoid using glitter polish because the glitter chunks can get in the way or distract from the designs, but you might be able to get away with it for the base coat. You will be engraving these designs, so you can use a pretty small bit or engraving bit.

Stamping Polishes
Due to its thinner consistency, it is more prone to bleeding while the process of drying. So, if you want to get the best nail art done by yourself, you should go for a stamping polish. Stamping polishes have a lot more colored pigments and they are thicker so they are easier to stamp with and they create more brilliant nail art. Once the stamper is completely dry you can use either a lint roller or tape to remove any residue. Having a bad nail stamper is one of the biggest mistakes you can make when you are now starting nail stamping.
Scrape off excess polish from the plate with a scraper or credit card. Use the scraper that comes with the kit or an old gift/credit card . Hold it at a 45-degree angle to the plate surface and scrape it firmly across the plate with a single swipe. The goal is to leave behind all the polish in the etching and wipe away all the polish on the flat surface of the plate. Clean off the oil and residue on the stamper head with the cotton ball.

Use a light touch and float the top coat over the nail to prevent smudging the design. While you should be working in a open, well ventilated space due to the fumes, you dont want to work where there is a lot of air circulation. For example, sitting under your ceiling fan or next to the register for your heating/cooling system isnt ideal. Weve talked a lot about polish drying too fast and working in the example situations will absolutely cause this problem.
If you move too slowly your polish will dry and make the print harder to either pick up or stamp on, so the faster you can move the better. And it’s important to note that not all stampers need priming so I would advise only attempt to prime a stamper if it doesn’t work or after awhile it stops working. To be extra safe, hold your used, acetone-soaked cotton balls under running water for a few seconds. If the stamp doesn’t look right, quickly wipe it away with a damp cotton ball and try again. Lightly buffing the rubbery stamper surface removes oils left behind during the manufacturing process.

Do not use 100% acetone on a clear gel stamper head. Using a gel polish base makes the whole process a lot easier. If the design isn;t perfect the first time, you can just wipe it off with nail polish remover and try again without damaging your base coat. If there is too much nail polish on the nail stamping plate when you go to stamp, the nail polish may run and won’t show the design. Scrape the nail polish off so that you can see the design clearly, but there is enough polish so that it covers the chosen design.
